K5 Plant invasion in beech woodlands



K5 - Beech woodlands:

14% of its area is endangered by plant invasion. Stands in hilly areas of southwest Hungary (Zala and Vas county) are more threatened than in mountain ranges. The most important invasive species are black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) and goldenrod species (Solidago spp.). American pokeweed (Phytolacca americana) is a recently spreading new invaders.
