The MÉTA database was developed according to the MÉTA methodology (MOLNÁR et al. 2003, 2007). The survey produced 17 sort of features of 86 type of habitats along more than 260,000 hexagons covering the country. The dataset were gathered by 199 surveyors, who've spent about 7000 days in the field. The huge amount of data and information is managed by a relational database management system (HORVÁTH et al. 2008). There were developed the MÉTA On-line Service and the MÉTA SQL Expert Interface and Acces Service (both available in Hungarian) to provide efficient and controllable data supply for our contributors and partners also (HORVÁTH & POLGÁR 2008).
